About a month ago, my left knee started hurting again. The pain felt similar to when I tore a ligament in that knee six or seven years ago. I've been staying off of it for fear of making it worse and the inability to play ultimate has been killing me. Today I went to an orthopedist to get it checked out and he thinks I may have torn the medial meniscus.
The first thing the doctor did was take x-rays. The x-rays showed that my knees (yes, he looked at both because of my past problems) are in good structural condition. He then tested my range of motion and the strength of the muscles around my knee. I was very happy to hear that my ligaments seem strong, since I never knew how well my knee actually healed from the previous injury. He will be scheduling an MRI to determine if I need arthroscopic surgery. Luckily, even if I do need surgery, it will only take a few weeks to fully recover.
