Eye Infection

Last Sunday Chester's eye got infected; I noticed it right before I went to bed Sunday night, but I thought it was just that gunky stuff that builds up in your eye over night sometimes. When I woke up Monday morning, his eye was so swollen he could barely open it. There was also a large amount of pussy discharge that had built up around his eye.

I wiped off the puss as best I could with a tissue, but his eye kept pussing at a disturbing rate. I ended up staying home with him all day and had to take him to the vet. He was prescribed antibiotics, anti-inflammatories/pain killers and ointment for his eye. The pills weren't bad because we were able to hide them in peanut butter like we've done for everything else we've ever had to give him. But he didn't want to have any part of having ointment put in his eye. It took almost the whole week to figure out how to get it in his eye without him resisting so hard that the ointment just ends up all over his face instead of in his eye.

The swelling was gone by Tuesday morning, and the pussing had decreased by about 90%. His eye looks fine now and today was the last day for one of his meds. He has a follow up appointment this week so hopefully the vet will say that everything is fine.
